THE Best Hair Tool…EVER!

A little backstory / back info: I have the most sensitive head ever! Always have. I don’t know how many tears I’ve cried or fits I’ve thrown because my head is so stinkin’ sensitive. Even the brush with the bristles that feel like cotton going over your hair hurt, not sure why.

A couple of years ago I used my niece’s brush and thought, hey! This one I can handle. It didn’t hurt as bad to get the tangles out. And let me tell you, my hair gets suuuuper tangly! I have naturally wavy hair, so it’s a daily annoyance and occurrence with the tangles. My niece had the Knot Genie and after I tried it out, I went and got myself one. It still hurt quite a bit to get the tangles out, but not as bad as my normal brush. I would go back to that one just to try it out and had to switch back to the Knot Genie. I do like the design of the Knot Genie, it’s fun!

The Knot Genie

I don’t really know how this happened, but I was surfing the web one day and came across the Wet Brush. I started doing some research on it and was reading tons of reviews and watching videos on it. A lot of the reviewers were saying that they had the Knot Genie and that this one was so much better. So I thought, hey why not give it a shot? If it promises to hurt my head less, I’m up to give it a shot.

I was going to put the brush on my Christmas list, but then discovered they sold them at Target. I found a really cute chevron print one online that is always out of stock everytime I check. At Target I thought I’d browse through the brushes and what do ya know? I found the chevron one!!!!! You betcha I picked that puppy up and stuck it in my cart. (All I need to do now is a monogram sticker to put on it and it’s perfect!)

The Wet Brush

And then. I brushed my hair with the Wet Brush…and let me tell you, things will never be the same! That brush is like magic! For real! I sent my mom 10 texts about it, I was so excited! It seriously didn’t hurt my head, at all. (I’m not affiliated with the Wet Brush or the Knot Genie, this is me just sharing my thoughts.) It doesn’t yank at your head while getting the tangles out. It’s kind of weird because you can hear the brush running through the tangles, but it for real doesn’t hurt. At all.

I will never, ever, ever go back to a regular hair brush. The Wet Brush is seriously where it’s at! It’s made for all types of hair, wet or dry, men or women, adults and kids. It’s absolutely ridiculous how well this brush works. The brushes range from $7 to $12. It’s pretty affordable. Especially when you compare it to salon brand brushes.

I want everyone to have a Wet Brush! It will seriously change your life and make brushing your hair way¬†more pleasant. If you or if you know of a child or even an adult who has a super sensitive head, get them or yourself this brush!!! You won’t regret it! I promise!

There She Is…Miss America!!

In honor of the Miss America pageant from last night, I thought it’d be the perfect opportunity to talk about the pageants.

I have competed in 2 local pageants. I don’t consider myself a pageant girl (I did win People’s Choice Award in 1 of the pageants ūüôā though ), but I did learn a lot and I had so much fun in them.¬†I have to start off by saying that the girls I met during the pageants were amazing. They were so nice and friendly; willing to give tips and pointers, help you curl that piece of hair you can’t reach and share butt- glue/ spray so you’re bikini doesn’t ride up as you’re walking across stage.

I think that Miss America is the perfect role-model for all women ranging from little girls to adult women. Miss America stands for style, service, scholarship and success.

In this day and age, most girls’ role-models aren’t the best and probably shouldn’t be a role-model; they’re found partying in clubs every night and not making the wisest decisions. However, Miss America is:

  • Fit- she cares for her body through fitness and eating the right types of foods.
  • Educated- she takes her education seriously and stays on top of pop-culture, politics and everything happening in her state, America and the world.
  • Well-Spoken- she has to always think before she speaks. She represents her state, her country and herself. She always has to be on top of the game and make sure that what comes out of her mouth is positive and articulate.
  • Philanthropic- she has a platform that is her passion. Some girls’ platforms are fitness in children, literacy, food banks, Children’s Miracle Network, etc. Whatever her platform may be, she dedicates hours and hours to helping others.
  • Confident- every woman has her insecurities, but she has to put those aside and not let those get her down or ruin her life. Insecurities can be motivation to make yourself a better person.
  • Talented- she has a talent that she performs for hundreds to thousands of people; singing, dancing, piano, and baton twirling are just a few of the many talents.

What isn’t to look up to in a Miss America girl, whether she is a local title-holder, state title-holder or even the country’s title-holder like newly crowned Mallory Hytes Hagan?

Tips on how you can improve your life and live like a Miss America girl:

  • Eat healthy foods
  • Stay active: it can be just 20 or 30 minutes a day, but as long as you stay active, then that’s all that matters
  • Stay up to date with the news
  • Volunteer and help others when you can
  • Be nice to everyone you come across (Pay- it- Forward)
  • Stay positive in everything you do

Don’t let anyone dull your sparkle.

A Fashion Trend for 2013

A new fashion trend that I’m seeing everywhere is boho¬†hobo. The boho¬†hobo fashion trend is easy to pull off. I think it looks effortless.¬†A plaid shirt, sweater, messy pony, jeggings and work/ hobo boots is all you need for this new trend.

This isn’t normally a style that I would like, but I surprisingly really like it. I love the Shoe Dazzle boots that are pictured below!

Celebrities can be seen rocking this look everyday. I’ve ¬†found some great inspiration for this look on Pinterest.¬†This look is great for a day at school or heading to the local coffee shop.

Answer the quiz below if you’re planning on trying the hobo look out or not this year!

Danielle Jonas- Style Crush

My Sunday nights are dedicated to watching TV. I don’t usually watch TV during the week, but come Sunday night, you can find me in front of the screen waiting for new episodes. One of my favorite new shows is “Married to Jonas“.¬†It’s a fun show and isn’t overly dramatic like, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians“, but the drama doesn’t stop me from watching.

Danielle Jonas (Kevin’s wife) is so easy to like because she’s such a sweet girl. I love her style! And her hair… it’s perfect¬†– jealous (She is a former hairdresser, which would explain why her hair is always amazing).

Kevin met Danielle in the Bahamas while vacationing in 2007 and the couple married in 2010. They are so precious together and are always doing sweet little things for one another.

If you haven’t seen the show, you should! At least once.

Which outfit is your favorite? I can’t decide, they’re all my favorite!

Changes in the Future?

I’ve been doing some thinking and I am thinking about making¬†a few¬†changes to Care To Be Glam. I want your input first though before I put any of these changes into action. My thoughts are to keep it about fashion, since that’s the root of the blog¬†and to add beauty (makeup, hair, nails) and fitness. I will also be adding more recipes to the recipe page. I want to be writing about what you want to read, so please answer the poll below so that I know if I will be making some changes in the near future¬†or not.

I really appreciate everyone that reads my blog! You put a smile on my face and I want to put a smile on yours by writing about what you want to see! ūüôā

Dancing With The Stars

Dancing with the Stars is such a huge television show! I wish that I had more time to watch it. It’s a fun entertaining show.

Check out some pics from this season!

Can you believe that they are already on season 14? I can’t

I am a huge fan of Gavin DeGraw. I loved this dance with his partner Karina Smirnoff. You can tell that they are both just having so much fun out there performing!

The Perfect Summer Combo. with Coral

I went shopping the other day and I bought a pair of coral linen pants that are featured in this post. I absolutely love them! They are one of the most comfortable pants that I haven ever put on. They are the perfect pair of pants to wear when you want to be more dressy but you don’t want to feel like you’re wearing dressy clothes. To me, this is the perfect summer outfit. I wish that my hair was much longer though, I think it would be perfect with long, curly hair. My shoulder-length hair will have to do for the time being.

An outfit inspired by a friend

I met up with one of my best friends the other day before class. I instantly fell in love with her outfit. I thought it was¬†very worker chic. She was on her way to work and I think that this is an adorable outfit for work or class. If you get chilly at work or at class in an outfit like this, a¬†black cardigan¬†is the perfect way to go. I have put together an outfit similar to the one that she was wearing but¬†I’ve added my own personaility to it. Like my friend did, I think that a top bun and oversize sunglasses would be the icing to this outfit.
